EXPERIENCE: I Ran The City 2 Surf

It was a super cold morning on Sunday 11th August but I woke up and jumped out of bed with excitement! It was the day of my first ever City 2 Surf! City 2 Surf is a 14 km run that goes from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach.

This year 75 thousand people did it! There were huge crowds at the start line. First, the wheelchair athletes started, they were so inspiring and impressive. Then the elite runners went – the first guy to complete the run had finished before I even crossed the start line!

Finally, it was our turn to run. The atmosphere was amazing! Heaps of bands played awesome music all along the way, people gave out lollies (yum yum!), gave us high-fives and there were lots of cheer squads to boost us along the way.

I managed to run every step of the way and finished the course in 91 minutes. I might have been slightly faster if I didn’t have to wait for my mum!

At the finish line we were rewarded with medals and then we stuffed ourselves silly at a charity marquee! Finally, we met up with my brother and braced the cold for the journey back to the inner west.
