Meal Review: Nick Digiovanni’s Butter Chicken

By Saskia

What’s your favourite meal? I’m sure you have an extensive list of mouth-watering dinners you or your parents make. Well, at least I do. And Nick DiGiovanni’s Butter Chicken is sure to be on that list.

On the weekend, I made one of his delicious meals, butter chicken. In my opinion, it wasn’t particularly hard, but it took a very long time. I spent 1 and a half hours on that meal, but the consequence was worth the effort.

I loved the thickness of the sauce, and it went well with the rice. Personally, white rice goes best with this certain dish.
The hardest part was the actual cooking time. To keep the correct consistency, you have to continue stirring the mixture, for as long as it took to be heated. For the easiest part, I would say the grating. Although graters can be sharp and slightly dangerous to small children, we didn’t have to grate much, and my fingers were safely away from those areas. I had a lot of fun making this dish, and I felt very resourceful, doing all of it by myself. I’d be happy to make it again.

The end result tasted incredible as well. The coconut milk inside went very well with the rest of the sauce. As an option, you could add vegetables on the side, and if it’s your sort of thing, add them into the mix. It also felt excellent, because it was all homemade!

However, if I could change something about the dish, I would. In my opinion, there was too much sugar, and I would quarter it, if not take it all away.

To conclude, it was an excellent dish, and an excellent opportunity to practise cooking more for my family!
