Kegworth Choir Take Centre Stage

By Monette, Greta, Piper & Rochelle

Lights, camera, action! Have you ever wondered how symphonies are put together and performed live by choirs?

Members of the Kegworth choir found out when they performed at the Cantabile Festival at the Sydney Opera House.

After we entered the big doors, we split into Soprano (high) and Alto (low). We rehearsed over and over again and then had dinner. After that it was time for the big show.

Ms Stephens, who is very supportive of the primary choir, told Press Gang it is wonderful that students get to perform in such an iconic and beautiful environment. “The acoustics were beautiful, so it sounded great – it was just magical.”

So, what did members of the choir have to say about the Cantabile festival?

“My favourite song is A Dog’s Life because it’s calming and fun,” said Phoebe, a Year 5 student who recently joined the choir.

“My favourite song was Cerulean Blue because it was nice and calm,” said Mae, a Year 4 student.

Our trip to the Opera House concluded with most students’ favourite song, Ostinato. It was an amazing night, and it was an experience that we will never forget.

We couldn’t have done it without our teachers, Ms Weeks and Ms Findlay, along with our principal Ms Stephens, who cheered us on from the crowd.
