Humans of Kegworth: Music Conductor and Teacher, Caroline

By Genevieve and Emily

How long have you been a human of Kegworth?

My oldest son started in kindy at Kegworth in 2019, so that’s when
I first started coming to Kegworth, and then about three years ago I started to be the strings teacher here as well.

What’s the best part about conducting the Kegworth Strings groups?

They’re fantastic. We have such a great time. We learn lots and we have fun as well. We play some incredible music. I love watching them all working as a team and helping each other. That’s my favourite thing.

You play the violin, what do you like about it?

My favourite thing about playing violin is the sound that it makes. You can say so much with it. You can make it happy, make it sad or make it funny.

What are the benefits of learning a musical instrument?

There are so many. So it’s good for your maths, it’s good for your communication skills, it’s good for your coordination. It can help with your concentration. It’s fun. It’s good for every single part of you.

What do you do in your free time?

I spend a lot of my free time playing and listening to music. I also have a dog, so you often see me walking the dog.
