You may have heard of the big build but do you really know what it is? We interviewed Ms Henness to find out more.
What’s happening?
The Department of Education has decided to change our school’s layout. They will be refurbishing learning spaces, replacing the demountable classrooms with permanent classrooms and replacing the library with a new admin block.
Why the rebuild now?
Over time our school’s student body has grown, but the school’s learning spaces are considered too small for modern classrooms and were not meeting the department’s standards, so it was time for a change.
How will the build disrupt our daily school life?
The Department of Education and Ms Henness are doing their best to make the to make the build as seamless as possible. A small period of time during the renovation, when the library is demolished, will impact our library sessions. But throughout this stage, we can adapt to the change by visiting our local libraries or reading the books we have at home.
How long will the build take, approximately?
The build will be split into two stages, the first stage being the new admin block with eight classrooms. The next stage will include the renovation of Block D hall and replacing the demountable classrooms with permanent classrooms. Hopefully the build will take roughly two years.
