Banned: Squishies, Slime and screens
By Freya, Lilian & Seraphina

Have your parents banned you from having something that you want? Well, you’re not alone.
We surveyed OGPS students and found that 86 per cent of us have had something banned, with 33 per cent of students experiencing a ban on slime and/or squishies.
Slime is banned because it can get all over the place, peel paint off and stick to furniture. Squishies are banned because they can be thrown from high places and far away, which can cause a mess around the house.
We believe that kids should be allowed to play with slime and squishies because they help kids develop their creativity.
Using toys also keeps kids off technology. These things don’t need to be banned because there is a solution. That solution is making a separate space for them.
We strongly believe that kids should be able to make a case for having slime and squishes because we need to have fun, and that parents should consider our perspective.
