Behind The Screen: Why Is Moonlight Cinema So Important To Our School?

By Elodie, Eliana & Salome

Five Dock’s Moonlight Cinema isn’t just your regular cinema; it’s the ultimate movie experience.

At 5pm on Friday, May 8th, the school gates opened, and the queue formed. The teachers working the gate area were busy getting everyone their tickets. The snack bar was full. The prize table was fully stocked with goodies.

On the field by the C.O.L.A, the inflatable screen stood tall. Families arrived with picnic blankets and foldout chairs, and rented beanbags for $20. Finally, the movie was projected onto the massive screen.

The P&C worked hard to organise this spectacular event for the FDPS community to raise money for our school.

Our principal, Mrs Chosid, said that “although the moonlight cinema was successful in raising funds for the school its real purpose was to bring the community together.”

We asked students what they thought of the Moonlight Cinema.

“ The moonlight cinema is a great way for our community to get together.” Zoe, Year 6

“The movie was exciting and even better with my friends.” Owen, Year 5

So next year, when the time comes, the Five Dock Moonlight Cinema is a must-do activity.
