Adventures in Reading

By Violet and Ingrid

From pirates, dinosaurs and princesses, to dragons and fairies, to modern day kids like you. Books take you on an adventure.

But have you been reading enough lately? In Week 6, just over half of FDPS students (152) borrowed a book from the library. There are 8269 books in the library, so there are plenty more books to explore.

Reading is calming which makes it great for your mental health. It boosts your vocabulary and improves your focus. You can enjoy sitting outside in the sun whilst learning what is happening in your gracious book.

Liaria is a library monitor from Year 6. She told us that she has loads of recommendations to give to younger students, like Babysitters Club, Dog Man and Roald Dahl books. “I love books and sharing the space to read. So I reckon more kids should be reading,” she said,

So remember, reading not only helps you in school, it also takes you to another land that is like no other.
