Do you ever want to dive into our library and grab a book? The VPS library is the best part of our school.
There are so many things you can do in the library, such as read a book, do creative arts, log books into the Premier’s Reading Challenge, and start getting ready for Book Week. Book Week is the best time of the year where everyone gets dressed as their favourite book character.
Our library has a massive collection of fascinating books that make it the best place in the school. We`ve got nonfiction, fiction, graphic novels, chapter books and lots of picture books. The library is a calm place to read a book and Zen out.
Our school Teacher-Librarian Ms. Caesar is a vibrantly dressed teacher who always prepares fun and creative activities for the library. Ms. Caesar told Press Gang that she became a librarian because she loves books. “My Mum also worked as a school librarian, and she used to take me to work with her sometimes and I loved it.”
We also interviewed Karys McEwen, a former librarian and the author of ‘The Paperbark Tree Committee’, who believes that libraries are safe spaces where you can be yourself, where you feel welcome, where you are included and a place where you can get off screens.
“Libraries are for everyone, there will always be a book for you. They’re not just about books, they are quiet spaces to use.They often have board games, they sometimes host community events.
“They’re multipurpose, and they are just the best spaces to hang out in,” she added.
So what makes the VPS library special?
Hazel said that her favourite thing about our library is that when you read a book it opens your imagination and creativity.
Ms. Cortiana says that libraries are important in schools and in other communities because they help you calm down and slowdown in real time. She also said that the library is a great place to share your ideas with your friends.
Mrs. Tainsh`s favourite place in school was definitely the library and it still is.
Our school library is amazing, from books to art, we learn amazing things each week no matter what we are doing. Libraries are different from other environments; libraries are calm, cool, and always fun. Grab your bag and go to our VPS library to select a book and go on an adventure in your imagination.
