Eye-popping Fun At The Great Aussie Bush Camp
By Georgie K & Georgie S

Fifteen-foot free falls, ziplining and swinging through the air so high it feels like your eyeballs are going to pop out. These are some of the things that Stage 3 students experienced at this year’s camp.
Every year, Stage 3 goes on a trip to the Great Aussie Bush Camp. But what is it and why do we go?
We asked VPS Principal Mrs. Tainsh why it’s important for students to go to camp. She said that it’s a place to work together in a different environment and get out of our comfort zones.
“You’re being independent, you’re working together in a team, you’re sleeping away from home. So you’re developing these skills together with the support of a teacher in an environment where you’re also getting to try new things,” she said.
There are lots of activities at Camp. We do ziplining, raft building free falls and giant swings.
We asked the students what their favourite activities were. Here’s what they told us.
“The power fan, because it was very high and also the giant swing,” said Camilla
“The high ropes were the best because it got harder and harder,” said Nico
“The flying fox because you zipped across the lake,” said Aspen.
But camp isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There were some less-than-perfect moments. First, let’s talk about the food. It was…we’ll let some other students tell you about it. Camilla said it “wasn’t the best,” while Aspen said “she’s had better” and Nico said nothing, we don’t blame him.
But we didn’t go there or the food; we went for the fun, and we definitely had plenty of that!
