Why are bees dying?

By Ella

Bees used to be everywhere but now the number of bees is dropping drastically. In one year 15%-20% of bees died

There are 12 reasons why bees are dying but here are the top three;

Diseases

When Varroa Mites invade a bee hive it makes the bees feel sick so then the bees that are sick leave the hive so that they don’t give the disease to the rest of the bees.

Pesticides

Pesticides are a chemical mixture that is toxic for bees and most people spray pesticides on growing flowers so when a bee lands on the flower to collect the pollen they die.

Parasites

Parasites are a little bug that go inside a bee and weaken the bones and then transmit a virus to kill the colony.

I know you might not like bees, but if they become extinct nearly all fruits, flowers, vegetables and most of all honey will also become extinct.

You can help save bees by planting a native and bee-friendly garden or helping rescue or relocate bee hives that need the help.
