An MP is a member of parliament We found out about what Jerome likes about being an MP, what he does all day and what he would most like to fix.

What are MPs responsible for?
My responsibility as an MP is to represent our local community, and I do that by getting out and about as much as I can, asking people for their opinions on important matters. Then I take the views of Bennelong to Parliament.
What do you like most about being MP?
I get to meet a lot of people. I get to hear a lot of stories. That’s a really nice part about it, understanding what makes our community tick and what brings us all together. Then trying to do my best in this job to make this area a better place to live.
What is a local issue that you’d like to fix?
It’s really expensive to live here. This, is a national problem, but particularly here in Benelong, rents are really high. It costs a lot to buy a house or to buy an apartment, and there aren’t enough homes for people to live in. So I want to make sure that as you guys grow up, there’s an affordable place for young people to live
