The Press Gang Guide To The Orange Grove Market

By Amari, Rufus, Benji & Samantha

The OGPS markets are a place where kids and adults see each other, buy nice food and just talk. The OGPS markets are held every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm and are enjoyed by the whole of Lilyfield.

For most locals going to the market is just a part of their Saturday morning routine. There are lots of stalls such as bakeries, juice stands, and bacon and egg rolls that are sold to hungry customers just to mention a few of the best ones. And has been an enjoyable experience for customers for many years.

Press Gang reporters asked OGPS kids what they like best about the market. Here’s what they had to say:

“Because they offer a range of food and I love all the food there, literally. There are other things you can do there like hang out with friends.”

“I like getting dumplings from the dumpling place. The market has the best food places.

“I like going to the markets with my family because I like supporting the local community and I like playing on the equipment and it’s an opportunity to support lots of people and play with my friends.”

“We go to the market to get flowers for my mum and we also get bacon and egg rolls.”

As you can see the Orange Grove markets are loved by all of the locals and are a great way to socialise with friends and family.

Five Food Stalls You Have to Try!

By Amari

To finish off Press Gang’s guide to The Orange Grove Market, here are our top five food stalls.

#1 Eat Fuh

Eat Fuh is a stall right next to the entrance of the markets and is a Vietnamese food party!  The stall has banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich with vegetables and  delicious  meat.  They also sell spicy noodles with vegetables, meat and birdseye chilli. In conclusion, Eat Fuh is great!

#2 The Fruit Stall

The Fruit stall features vegetables, fruit, fruit and more fruit. The fruit stall is a place near the grass and has lots of grapes, plums, peaches and much more.  The fruit stall also has a lot of sales  20% -30% off and even 50% off! Wow what a bargain. Not only is the fruit great but even the owners are nice too.

#3 Pork Rolls

The pork roll stand has two types of pork rolls. (My personal favourite is the first one.) The pork rolls consist of pork coleslaw and mayonnaise. Unfortunately the queues are quite long and the prices have gone up. In conclusion the pork roll  is one of my all time favourites.

#2 Gozleme

Soft dough, warm cheese and spinach – the perfect package. Gozleme is a Turkish delight for all ages great and small. It may consist of a vegetable but to all the little kids who are reading this the spinach is overpowered by the cheese. You may have noticed that one of the OGPS kids said gozleme is their favourite and I can guarantee you he wasn’t the only one. In conclusion, gozleme should 100% be tried!.

#1 Bacon & Egg Rolls

I saved the best till last. Bacon and egg rolls  are the best thing in the entire market! Crispy bacon, soft eggs and multiple sauces to finish the package. People come here for breakfast and no matter how long the queue is, it is worth it.The price for a single bacon and egg roll is $10 which may be a lot of money but that is because of the rising interest rates, which we all know is an issue.

If you ask me, it’s worth it, but don’t just take my word for it dig in!
