OGPS students are breaking free with their real knack for performing arts
On the 19th of September, our young and brave actors will take to the stage to perform Disney’s High School Musical JR for Orange Grove’s biannual school musical!
In this Press Gang exclusive, we’ll be taking you behind the scenes of this incredible production!
We interviewed Maja as Gabriella, Alfie as Troy, Eloise as Sharpay, and Mason as Ryan.
They are all super excited about the upcoming musical.
“So, as soon as I heard of it, I really wanted to audition for it because High School Musical is my all-time favorite movie,” said Eloise.
“I’ve been watching it forever, since I was young and I really like Sharpay’s character and playing her is really fun”.

Between the twilight rehearsals, costuming, and upbeat songs, what’s not to love?
“I really feel comfortable with my new friends and they make me feel safe, heard and, I feel like I’m noticed and they’re really special to me.” Said Mason.
For these young actors, performing arts comes quite naturally. When asked what they love about singing, dancing, and acting, they gave some heartfelt responses
“Watching the movies, I felt a connection to the franchise and when the audition list came out, I just felt so blessed because people started calling me Troy, and it feels nice to look back on the times when I was watching the movies and experience that feeling,” said Alfie.
“I really like the feeling of being onstage,” explained Maja, “something about it just makes me feel really happy and I enjoy it so much, and I think that’s why I really wanted to be a part of this musical.”
