How long have you worked at Guildford West?

I have worked here for two years now. I started at the beginning of 2022.

What do you like working here?

I really like all the kids that I get to work with here and the staff are really lovely too. Everybody is so friendly and welcoming.

I love to help out with gardening and cooking in the kitchen. I love working with all the students and going into classrooms and reading and doing maths with kids.

Was teaching your dream job?

Teaching wasn’t originally my dream job. Originally, I went to university to study music because I play the bassoon. But after a couple of years, I was thinking about what I wanted to do with my life and I thought that maybe I wanted to go into teaching.

So it wasn’t necessarily my second choice, but I kind of came to it after doing some original initial study in music, and then I went into teaching and working with kids.

What do you do in your free time?

When I go home, I love spending time with my family, with my husband and my two kids. I love to take long bush walks and I also love to swim and read novels.
