Hilltop End The Year On A High Note

By Savannah

Christmas Carols are a special event at Hilltop and a chance to celebrate with all of the students and teachers before the school holidays.

Mrs Lavery, Head of Year Five,  said that Carols are a way for families to bond with their children and sing along to fun Christmas songs.

“Christmas carols are very special for our students. They get a break from schoolwork and have a very fun time,” she added.

On Friday 1st December, every class at HRPS performed a Christmas song such as Jingle Bell Rock and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.

“The Christmas Carols is important because it’s a great celebration of our community. It brings all of our community together,” said Mrs Rawley, who organised the event.

“My favourite Christmas song is Feliz Navidad. I love it because it just is such a happy song and we love doing the actions,” she added.

“I get a tear in my eye when I see all the children and the community singing it together.”

Fun facts!

Did you know Christmas Carols were not unique to Christmas?

Singing Christmas Carols was banned in England.

Jingle Bells was not meant for Christmas.
