In Putney Public School Football is a huge deal. It is played every day and it’s the most popular sport in the playground.
We spoke to people involved in the PPS soccer scene to find out more.
Mr Fung is the junior and senior football coach.
“I enjoy coaching the soccer team because it gives me an opportunity to see students outside of the classroom. and it’s nice to see people shine in different ways,” said Mr Fung.
He continued, “I also think it’s nice to experience things together, in sport, there can be great highs, when you have a victory, but there also can be lows that you experience together, for example, if somebody gets injured or if decisions don’t go your way and you end up losing, that can be disappointing. But it’s nice to be able to experience that all together, as a group.”
Jake
“I really liked being on the team because it was a fun experience and I just love football. It was great.”
said Jake.
“It was a pretty good team. We made it through all the way to the finals but unfortunately lost. But that doesn’t matter because this year we’re going to win the final for sure, because we’re going to keep on pushing no matter what happens. We are going to win,” he added.
Yash
“I like being junior boys soccer team, it’s fun. I like playing against other schools, it brings up your confidence outside of school,” said Yash.
Aiden
” I like playing against other teams and playing competitively.”
