DanceSport is a ballroom dancing program for Year 5 students in primary schools in NSW. A team can consist of up to 30 people.
Everyone in our DanceSport team spends at least one hour a week, rehearsing our four dances; Cha Cha, Tango, Salsa, and Jive.
We asked Mr Payne why DanceSport is important.
“Not only are student’s developing their dance skills, they’re also learning really important life skills, like showing respect, empathy, developing our wellbeing,” he explained.
At the end of our DanceSport journey we go on a trip to Sydney Olympic Park to do a competition for each dance.
The finalist pairs get ranked and represent OGPS against other schools, and Orange Grove has a large reputation as one of the best!
“I’m not really concerned whether we win or win awards or trophies or anything like that. It’s more important that we go out and do our absolute best,” said Mr Payne.
