REVIEW: Jamie by L.D. Lapinski

By Alice

Jamie by L.D. Lapinski was published by Hachette Children’s Books in March 2023

Jamie Rambeau has to pick between a girl’s school and a boy’s school when they’re neither. It’s a unique story because it’s not common to have LGBTQ+ characters in kid’s literature.

It’s also an important story and even if you are not in Jamie’s predicament, it’s relatable.

I liked the segments between chapters called ‘Jamie Rambeau’s Guide To Words’ which are written by the main character. It teaches you a new word related to LGBTQ+ issues and topics. It’s a perfect introduction if you don’t know much about LGBTQ+ issues. The book illustrates the definitions as well, clearly and nicely.

I think this book would appeal to everyone!

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
