OPINION: Climate Change Is Terrifying – We Need To Step Up And Take Action

I was six years old when I learnt what climate change was. Just take a moment to ponder on that. I spent five whole years, believing our world was healthy, fresh and unpolluted. How could I have been so wrong? 

The world is dangerously close to being beyond repair because climate change has affected every living thing that is homed on earth. Right now, in the twenty-first century, we need to put an ease on this terror.

We need to think about the things we do each and every day, that contribute to this destruction of our planet, and switch them, with practical, ethical options. Like saving energy when we turn off our lights, taps and air conditioning. Using solar panels in every moment we can to create a more natural energy for the moments we truly need it. We need to take more responsibility and notice when we use unnecessary fuel in everyday situations. 

Global warming is when the world heats up, blocking the atmosphere with thick, hot air. And it all comes down to us. The coal we burn, for non-essential luxury items, ends up creating toxic smoke that devours our remaining fresh air.

We need to step up, and create products that support the growth of this world. I want to live in a healthy, safe paradise, where every living thing can feel secure about our future rather than fretting over how climate change may affect them.

Think about the difference we could make. Being the first generation, to fully understand the reasons we need to change, and actually act on them. Because you can talk all you like about doing something, but it’s when you do it that it matters.
