You’ve Got A Friend In Me: The OGPS Buddy Program
By Elsie, Ewan & Henry

If you don’t know the Buddy Program, you’re in for a treat. The buddy program is a special thing that kindergarten does with year six. They play with them, show them around the school and teach them cool stuff.
We interviewed some kindergarten teachers to find out more.
“It’s a really important program we have at Orange Grove because it gives the kindergartners some role models to look up to in our school and it gives them a sense of belonging,” said Mrs Walsh.
The kindergarten teachers also told us that the kids always look forward to seeing their Year Six buddies.
“Every single time I talk to my Kindies about what their favourite part of the week is, I think 99.9% of the time they say, year six buddies,” said Ms Williams.
We also interviewed some of the buddies and asked them what they think of the buddy program.
“I love being a buddy. I think all the kindies are really cute and to help them when things around the school is really fun,” said a Year 6 student.
“I like playing with my buddy,” said kindergartener, Emily. “She is really kind and fun.”
