Press Gang Finds Out: How Much Sleep Do We Need?

By Kristabel, Lexie and Parisa

Sleep is vital for everyone because if you don’t get enough sleep it affects almost everything about your wellbeing. If you don’t sleep well, it can affect your mind set, you may get angrier, sadder or upset more quickly throughout the day.

We spoke to Sacha and Zhalin from the Top Blokes Foundation to find out more.

“Sleep gives us the full charge. We’re like electric vehicles. If you kind of charge an electric vehicle for six hours, it’ll still go, but it won’t go for very long. So you get the maximum charge, which is about 12,” they told us.

But it is important but it’s also important to not to have too much sleep. “Sleep-ins are good for lions, but not very good for you,” said Top Blokes.

Short- term oversleeping may cause drowsiness, fatigue, anxiety, and brain fogginess.

So how much sleep do primary kids need?

“If you are a young kid in let’s say primary school age group, we advise that they get between eight to 12 hours sleep,” said Top Blokes.

So make sure you getting enough sleep!
