Zahli comes 5th in Dressage Competition

The amazing Zahli H recently came 5th in a dressage competition. Most of the competitors were 15 years old and over, but Zahli is only nine.
Dressage is a type of horse riding. “You ride a horse and you dress up in a fancy in a blazer,” explains Zahli.
Zahli been horse riding for two years. She belongs to the South East Equestrian club.
“It was difficult. I had the speedy pony, so I had to control the speed,” she told Press Gang.
The Athletics Carnival

The Athletics Carnival only happens once a year. It has multiple events like 100m, 200m, Discus, Shot Put and Long Jump.
During the Athletics Carnival the three school houses, Pearce, Border and Frazer, compete and the house that wins the most points wins the Athletics Carnival.
PSSA

This term we had our first PSSA games. PSSA is a fun sport activity that connects OGPS with other schools. This is why PSSA is so important.
At OGPS we take part in three PSSA sports – Soccer, Touch Footy and Netball. How fun is that?
The Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee is a competition held at OGPS. The teachers will give you a word and then you spell the word out loud. This event is important because it helps everyone with their spelling.
“I was blown away by the abilities of our spellers. The final was ‘edge-of your seat’ exciting,” said Ms Heany, Spelling Bee Judge.
“We had a great time participating in this amazing event. It was very cool and I enjoyed it,” said OGPS student, Theo.
Debating

Debating is a group that some Stage 3 students go to every Wednesday morning. The Premiers team has multiple opportunities to Zoom or meet with other schools.
A debate is a structured argument between two teams.
“Debating is a valuable skill and a highlight of being at OGPS,” said Stage 3 Student, Stella.
Spotlight Dance Festival

The Spotlight Dance Festival is a extremely fun event. This year, dancers from three OGPS dance groups, Sapphire Dance, Emerald Dance, and Perry Street Dance performed at the Seymour Center.
“I found it so exciting. My highlight was seeing the costumes,” said Miss Boulios.
I think we all agree that it was an awesome night.
