Art Workshop An Instant Hit At OGPS

By Curtis

In week 2, Stage 3 students met with famous Archibald Prize winner Mostafa Azimitabar. We learned about Moz’s life. Moz started painting with coffee when he was 28 years old. He had to leave Iran when he was 21 because of the Iran-Iraq war. When he got to Australia in 2013, he had to stay on Manas island. He stayed at Manas island for 6 years. I interviewed some students to see what they thought.

“Well, it was a new painting style for me using coffee and toothbrush, but using a style. I eventually got used to it and it was lots of fun.” – Benji

“I think it was good because of what he had to deal with through his life, and I think it was amazing meeting him.” – William

“I really liked it. I liked hearing his story and working with his art- works, and especially painting with toothbrushes and coffee.” – Noah K

“It was a great experience and I really enjoyed his mentoring and his skills.” – Sebastian

“It was fun. We got to paint with coffee, which was really good because we’d never done it before and it was really interesting how you could make really good artworks just with coffee.” – Ty
