I think that A Giant’s Trek is an awesome book. It shows that you don’t always have to be the biggest or the bravest to make a difference.
A Giant’s Trek is about a young giant named Ash. He isn’t the biggest or the strongest, but he goes out of his comfort zone to save his home, something not even the bravest giants could do.
Every other giant in Haven-Home sets out on a quest to bring back something to help defend Haven-Home from the prowling wolves.
All the giants that complete the quest bring back some sort of weapon or shield, but not Ash. Ash sets out to study incantation: the magic of wood, stone, water and fire. He ignores what the other giants say about him not being a warrior, and decides to follow his heart.
Ash is born with a limp, and I think that this is one of the best aspects of the story. It raises awareness about people who are born differently. It’s ok to be different, and I think that some people don’t feel comfortable in their own skin, so to have the main character being slightly different is amazing.
I give this book a 5/5 and recommend it to people between the age of 9 and 12.
