Sunrise live from HRPS!

By Lucas, Holly, Illwaad & Abigail

Have you ever been on TV? Well we have!

Ms Maxine, our most popular teacher from our HPOP studio, contacted Sunrise to come and visit HRPS. Sunrise Live came and visited our school early in the morning on the 1st of May, 2026 at 4:00 AM.

When the van pulled up, excitement spread throughout the school. They interviewed the Hilltop Road Public School coffee van team, such as Ms Neleh, Mrs Rebbeca and Ms Catherine. They also interviewed Mrs Shin, the teacher who is currently involved with the Food Ladder Program. The Sunrise crew filmed a rap performance from Hilltop Road’s own, Mohammad El – Kheir. The entire Hilltop Road community were proud of hosting Sunrise and it was exciting for those who were on camera.

While visiting, Sam Mac presented the weather with us at a variety of locations around the school. He visited a number of amazing places, like the Food Ladder Greenhouse, Community Resources Centre, HPOP Studios and even had time to grab a coffee from the Hilltop Coffee Van.

The most exciting part was Sam Mac introducing the Sunrise audience to our AI robot and having a dance with him too.

So, what did people in the Hilltop Road community think about the visit?

Amir commented, “So when I heard that Sunrise was coming to our school at a very early time, I thought it was something I didn’t want to do, but my dad encouraged me to get up and go perform there, and it turned out to be a very fun experience.”

“It was very exciting. Very, very exciting. It was early in the morning though,” said Ms Lavery.

Ms See, HRPS Principal, said “It was great to showcase to the wider community all the amazing things that we do here at HRPS and just how cohesive we are as a school community.

“I was nervous because Sunrise has an anticipated 1.2 million viewers every morning.”

Our school is very lucky to have Sunrise, and even though we are a famous school, it doesn’t mean that we get these kinds of gifts all the time, so we are very, very very grateful to have Sunrise come to our school!
