Students Race For A Place In Cross Country Zone

By Rita, Arham, Jun & Mohil

During Term 1 Week 9 on the 31st of March, students immersed themselves in the cross country qualification for Zone. The races were organised based on the students’ ages. For example, if you are turning 11 years old, you would participate in the 11-year-old 3 kilometre race. Basically, how this works is that one lap around the whole school’s area (outside) is 1 kilometre, so three laps would be 3 kilometres.

The top ten pupils will earn points for their tribe: Diplo, Tokay and Carpho.

But how does Zone even work, and how do we get into Zone?

In Zone, the top four participants will then compete against other schools, but the four people in 5th to 8th place will be reserves in case anyone wants to decline the opportunity of being in Zone.

So, what are students saying about Cross Country?

“I did alright, but there were too many hills,” said Muhammad

“It was good; I did alright,” said Chris F
