Have you ever wanted an extraordinary sandwich? Well the BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) from Nick DiGiovanni’s new book, Knife Drop, Creative Recipes Anyone Can Cook is the one for you and you can make it yourself.
Personally, when I made it I thought “It’s hard work but it’s worth it”.
This sandwich can get the entire family involved when preparing it. It took about 15 mins to make. Although a regular BLT only has bacon, lettuce, and tomato this one has much more in it including mayonnaise and crispy chicken skins.
What I liked about it:
I was really surprised that it tasted so good. It gives you a lot of energy if you’re doing sports afterwards. Overall I encourage you to get this book when it comes out on the 10th Of June. It would be amazing for occasions or weekend lunches.
What I didn’t like about it:
I think one thing that lowered my rating was that it took a long time for a sandwich. This sandwich is one you can’t make for school lunch due to the length of time it took. I think the hardest part was frying the bacon and crisping the chicken skins.
Things I’ll do differently next time
The recipe stated to cut thick slices of tomato but this caused the bread to go soggy and wet so perhaps when you make this sandwich you should cut thin slices.
Another thing that could be improved is the bacon. They ask you to use Maple & Lemon Bacon but once you finish the sandwich you get a maple syrup aftertaste. Unless you like the taste of maple syrup!
In conclusion, I give this sandwich an 8.5/10.
I think it’s a nice project to do with your family. It has a healthy element in the lettuce and tomato.
It is a wonderful pick-me-up after a long day out on the weekend and is great for family and friends when they come over.
When this book comes out do yourself a favour and purchase it. You won’t regret it.
