The Putney Press Gang Guide To The School Holidays

By The Putney Press Gang

All students from Putney are getting ready for the big 2-week break from school. Although some people are packed with activities to do, others have a full 14 days with nothing. A few Press Gang reporters have come up with ideas on what to do in the Easter holidays.

Try Skateboarding

By Macy

I love to skateboard and it’s a great thing to do in the school holidays. My dad has been teaching me how to use a skateboard and now I know how to do it!

There are some really good places to practice such as Morrison Bay Park, Meadowbank Park and Putney Park. So in the school holidays, go outside and have some fun in the fresh air!

Read a Book

By Annika

Books are a great educational way to get smarter and have fun. Reading also reduces stress and helps you relax. Reading has other benefits such as improving your memory and concentration, expanding your vocabulary, and it helps you get better at writing and increasing your creativity and imagination. So this holiday, have fun and try reading a book!

I would recommend:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Harry Potter
Tom Gates
Babysitters Club

Play a game of soccer

By Zach

I am a huge football fan. The soccer season is starting up so I’ve been going to the park with my dad, taking free kicks from twenty metres out (free kicks are my strength) and scoring around top bins (top bins is top corner). I’ll also be watching the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Champions League. My favourite club/team is Arsenal. I’ll be cheering them on when they play Bayern Munchen/Munich on the 10th and the 18th. Hopefully, they make it to the semifinals and maybe even the finals!

Go on a Play Date

By Erin

One of the things that most of us have during the holidays is a play date. Play-dates are when you and your friends get together and meet up at one friend’s house.

Usually, me and my friends pick a place to meet up instead. However, I still do play dates at my friends’ houses. My friend Cruz recently got new pups (miniature dachshunds) that my sister has fallen in love with so I’ve had a couple of play-dates in the past few months with him.

I hope all of you will get a chance to have a play date with your friends during the holidays.

Go to The Beach

By Eva

The beach is one of the best places to go to in Australia since we have so many of them. The beach is really fun because you can surf, play volleyball, play beach ball, swim and a lot. more one of my favourite things to do is to make a sandcastle and play volleyball in the water

Hang Out with your Pet

By Emaan

Animals are comforting and are always there for you. In the school holidays we enjoy playing with the cute, fluffy animals we call pets. Whether their big, small ,fluffy or scaly we all love our animal friends.

Research shows that playing with animals give you a dopamine boost (a chemical which makes you happy). Animals are comforting and are always their for you. So that’s why Putney kids likes playing with pets.

Go on a road trip

By Scarlett H

Whether you are going to the Blue Mountains or the Gold Coast, road trips are the best. Here are some things that you can do on your road trip:

Listen to music

Sing the wheels on the bus

Stop off for fast food and snacks

Play spotto!

Go Fruit Picking

By Olivia P

In the school holidays I like to contact my friends and go fruit picking! It is a three hour drive, but you can have fun doing karaoke in the car.

Fruit picking is great fun and a you get to enjoy nature.

I recommend you start with Strawberry, Chestnut or Apple picking.

Spend Time Drawing

By Elina

In the school holidays, I like to paint and draw, but mostly draw because all you need is some pencils and a rubber.

To me, drawing is fun because you can be creative with colours and and do anything you want with pencils, marker pens and more.

You can try drawing in the school holidays too!
