What’s Cooking in the Kitchen?

By Aya, Leen & Maria

This term every class in the school has been able to cook in the kitchen.

In the first round, K-2 made French Toast. In the second round 3-6 made Rainbow Slices, and in the the third round the whole school made Honey and Pumpkin Muffins.

We feel very excited when we go to the kitchen because when you cook it’s very fun when you slice and shred veggies and fruits.

The most fun round was the rainbow slices because when you make the rainbow slices you get to chop onion, shred the cheese and zucchini, cut tomatoes and use the pre-chopper.

We asked students what they loved about cooking in the kitchen, here are some of their answers:

“We get to eat the food that we make”

“ We get to work together”

“It’s fun that we get creative and use our skills to make food”

“The kitchen is good because can try our best to make foods”

The Kitchen Garden:

Every year each class picks a garden bed to grow vegetables to use in the kitchen.

Students plant seedlings and water them each week. We watch them grow and harvest the vegetables when they are ripe. We also take care of the chickens and we collect the eggs to use in the kitchen.

Currently we are eating pumpkin, tomato, onion, eggs and carrots from our garden. Each class is proud of what they grow because we worked hard in the garden.
