Book week is a time where everybody gets to show off their creativity, by dressing up as a favourite character from a book of their choice.
At Kegworth, we celebrated Book Week on the 20th of August. Although the heavy rain was unexpected, our Kegworth students continued on with our parade.
Book week was held under the Cola due to pouring rain. Kids from Kindy to Year 6 enjoyed dressing up as characters and showing their favourite book.
We hope Book Week encourages young kids to read for pleasure every day.
We interviewed a couple of Kegworth students who had very fond opinions of book week. They all mentioned that book week is important for younger children, as it motivates them to read more books instead of watching devices.
“I love seeing everyone’s costumes, and I like knowing how engaged children are with books and reading,” said Stephanie P.
Indie told us that she enjoys seeing the little kids in their big puffy dresses. “I think it’s good because it encourages them to read more and get into books,” she added.
We asked Ms Stevens, our principal, why she thinks Book Week was is good for kids. “It just reminds kids how much fun books are, and it really brings out a love of reading for everyone. Book Week is all about celebrating,” she said.
