Humans of Vaucluse: Ms Caesar, Teacher Librarian

You may know Ms Caesar as our school librarian, but did you know she was once in charge of a navy crew? Press Gang reporters Henry, Alex B and Alex R get the scoop in this exclusive interview.

How long have you been a teacher at Vaucluse Public School? 

I’ve been at Vaucluse Public School since 2011.

What do you like best about our school?

There’s lots of things, but I really like the community. I like the students and the families. Everyone’s really friendly and kind and interesting.

What has been your most memorable year at Vaucluse Public School? 

It was 2012 – the year that we had to move the library all the way from upstairs in the main building to here. I was told that we had to move the whole library from one place to another place, which was something I had never done before.

We had a parent who was the commander at the Navy base and they sent a whole lot of Marines up here and I got to boss them around. They would pick up boxes of books and move them and they’d be like, “where do you want them?” And I’d be like, “over there.” So it was a lot of fun.

What’s the scariest book you’ve ever read? 

There’s a book called ‘Dry’ by Neal Shusterman, which is about water running out and what happens when we run out of water. I think it’s a really scary book just because it sounds like something that could happen in real life.

What’s your dream job?

Well, I’m kind of doing my dream job, but if I had to choose something besides being a teacher librarian, I think I would’ve really liked to have been a costume designer.
