By Lyden, Jana, Khaled, Yazmin & Zahra
Ms El-Bacha is a Stage 3 teacher, PSSA coach and Executive Team Leader. Press Gang reporters Lyden, Jana, Khaled, Yazmin & Zahra interviewed her to learn more about her.
How long have you been a teacher at GSPS?
I’ve been working at Granville South for seven years.
Why did you become a teacher?
So my mum was actually a teacher in Lebanon, and when I was young, a lot of her ex-students came up to me and told me how much of a positive influence she’d been in their lives. So I wanted to become a teacher to make that same difference.
How do you encourage kids?
I encourage kids by being a positive role model, finding what they’re interested in and engaging them through that. I also like the fact that my students have a story to tell, and I use that story to push them to their personal best.
What sport do you enjoy the most?
Oh, that’s a really hard question. I like a variety of sport. I love playing basketball. I like watching Oztag and Rugby League games to see how people can strategise their games to score tries.
