Athletics Carnival Let’s Go, VPS

By Mac & Lenny A

The leaders are coming close to the finishing line, who’s going to win? Every year VPS holds an athletics carnival in term 3. This year it was held at Trumper park. Luckily, the weather was very pleasant and warm. Students got there by bus and they started the races at approximately 11:00 am.

Years 3-6 ran at the carnival and k-2 did other activities organized by Mr Hamilton.

The races that VPS included this year were 100, 200, 800 and 1500 meters. There were also shotput, discus, long jump and high jump. All of the school competed with exceptional effort and skill. Most students were dressed in house colours, supporting and cheering on their house. Overall, the vibe was really fun and supportive.

Press Gang reporters spoke to Izzy and Kennedy about the athletics carnival.

Izzy F from Year 6 was very successful on the day, winning many races.  When asked for his tips for success, he said, “never give up,’’ spoken proudly and truly.

Kennedy also in year 6, said that in the moment she was running, she felt proud and afterwards was happy with her results.

K-2 did activities like volleyball and rob the nest; they also did a fun 50-meter race. They did other activities as well.

Overall, the athletics carnival was really fun, supportive and successful. Amazing job to all of the champs who ran. Also, great job teachers for organising the athletics carnival. It was a huge success.
